Food Logistics Award Honors Providers that Help Grocery and Foodservice Customers Achieve Sustainable Goals
HOUSTON (May 26, 2011) – Jungheinrich (http://www.jungheinrich-lift.com), a leading supplier of material handling warehouse equipment, was named by Food Logistics as one of the Top 20 Green Supply Chain Partners in 2011. Each year, Food Logistics invites its readers to nominate a provider that has developed pioneering, innovative and creative products, services and programs to help their customers in the foodservice industry achieve sustainable or “green” goals.
“We’re honored to have Jungheinrich selected by the readers of Food Logistics as one of the ‘Top 20 Green Supply Partners,’” said Perry Ardito, general manager of the Jungheinrich Warehouse Product Group at Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc. (MCFA). “It is our responsibility to develop and provide solutions that allow customers to be more energy efficient and eco-friendly, ensuring a cleaner home for future generations.”
Jungheinch was nominated for its sustainability efforts and focus on developing energy-efficient products and solutions for the grocery and foodservice industries, including Class I Electric Counterbalanced Forklift Trucks, Class II Moving Mast Reach Trucks and Class III Walkie and Walkie End-riders. Through its proprietary 3-phase AC technology, Jungheinrich’s AC-powered electric lift trucks reclaim otherwise wasted mechanical energy from braking and load lowering, and instead, convert it back to electrical energy and feed it back to the battery. Jungheinrich’s AC-powered electric trucks also produce zero emissions, providing another benefit for customers seeking to reduce their overall carbon footprint.
The Food Logistics ‘Top 20 Green Supply Chain Partners’ recognition is an annual award coordinated by members of the Food Logistics magazine editorial staff. Award recipients are determined based on nominations received from the readers of Food Logistics magazine.
